Firefox Search Keywords

Filed under: Uncategorized — gervmarkham @ 4:32 pm

This is only sort-of a Bugzilla tip (it’s more a Firefox tip), but it makes searching Bugzilla a lot quicker and easier.

In Firefox, head over to bugzilla.mozilla.org, right click on the Search box and hit “Add a Keyword for this Search…”. Give it the keyword “bug”.

Now, you can search Bugzilla directly from your URL bar using QuickSearch syntax, by typing “bug <terms>”.

  1. Ones I like – I have a bookmark with the keyword ‘translate’ set to:

    http://translate.google.com/#auto|en|%s

…so I can just type ‘translate ‘ at the front of the location bar and hit return to get a google translation, guessing the language. I could do this with a bookmarklet, but the toolbar is prime real estate, and it’s full of other things; and anyway, it works for phrases too, not just urls.
